This was based on a dream I had so please don't be too harsh.
Chapter 1: Hope
The air was brisk around as darkness fell. Rachel loved this time of day...or of night. She enjoyed looking up at the stars and being able to see them so clearly. She smiled to herself. Something had seemed different, almost unearthly. She brushed that thought away and went into the Fellowship Hall where her friends were. She was being talked at by her younger friends about their boy troubles and the latest drama at their schools. Suddenly a strange feeling came over her. A force growing stronger lingered and hesitated, draining her. She felt dizzy for a moment then shook it off. 'Must be the night air,' she thought. A couple of guys came in and started in on some guy that had just pulled up into the church parking lot in a 2008 Grandam Gt Mustang. Then they went in to talking about his dark appearance and how his presence chilled them through. "Y'all are crazy," Rachel said rolling her eyes. Then 'he' walked in. His dark red hair shone brilliantly when he stepped into the light. His features were most odd but very enchanting. His build was average, muscular. Rachel established then and there that he was the most attractive man on the earth. It didn't take the other girls long at all to come to the same conclusion. They festered him about his clothes and his hair. They asked where he came from. What pricked Rachel's interest was the Irish brouge he spoke in and the way his words rolled off his tounge. His eyes met Rachel's and it was like he just stopped hearing everyone else. He walked through them to get to her. They stood face to face for what seemed an eternity. Finally Rachel broke the silence, "Uh, I'm Rachel. Nice to meet you." He smiled and handsomely said, "Aye, that it is, miss Rachel. My name is Christian Brennan." Her mouth became dry and was unable to speak for a moment. She cleared her throat and said, "So what brings you to our tiny, Mississippi, Baptist church?" "Just looking for faith. I think i've found it," he said. "Well you are just in time for our Wednesday class. You may join if you would like," she told him. "I would love to," he said with a smile. He followed her to the class room and sat beside her. The others sat around. The girls stared at him and the guys had sour looks on their faces. Rachel didn't notice much about the others. Mrs. Vivian came in and put her Bible down. Rachel came out of it then. She stayed focused on what she was saying. Christian watched her steady, tiny, angelic face concentrate on every word that was spoken by this woman. "Open to Revelations. We are up to the fifth seal. Did anyone do the drawing I challenged you to do?" Mrs. Vivian asked. Rachel scrounged around in her Bible to find the folded piece of paper that shown four angels holding back the winds from the four corners of the Earth. It wasn't as good as she could have done but at least you could tell what was going on. Christian was thourghly impressed. Mrs. Vivian smiled and said, "Very good." Rachel was suprised to get even that much praise for that dinky drawing. Still, she sat as more of the familiar story fanned out before her. She thrived to hear more about Jesus and his great works. She loved to hear about the great things to come. Christian felt that from her eyes, considering your eyes are the windows to your soul.
After class Rachel was back into her less tranced state and back to trying to figure out this new guy. He and she walked out onto the basketball court and talked about where he came from, how long he would be here. "I am hoping I shall stay longer than the school year. I'm not sure if it shall work out though, I'm afraid," he told her. "Well that's no good. It would be nice if you could stay and we could get to know each other better," Rachel said. 'Oh my gosh. I can't believe I just said that,' she thought. He grabbed her arms and pulled her to him. They embraced for a long while. Thousands of thoughts filled her mind, 'This is so weird, but it's so nice and feels so right. I just met him, no need to rush anything. He seems so sweet though. I feel as though I can trust him...' Her thoughts stopped there and she just held on to him for dear life. It was the strangest feeling for her. She felt so close but though they had never met until this very night. She felt something...it was hope.

I like it, its a good start. Good character descriptions, with mannerisms and thought process to give hints into how your main character thinks. Good setting of story tone and the hint of mystery of who this man is. I like how you 'showed' the power of attraction he has over the women instead of out right saying it. It's always better, and more powerful story-wise, to show through action or reaction instead of just saying 'this is how it is'. It challanges the reader to 'look' at what your showing them; paints a picture in their minds eyes of the scene unfolding before them. Nice work Rachel. Can't wait to see what happens next, which is exactly the feeling you want to instill in the reader as you end one scene and move to the next.
Gone for the forseeable future.

(This chapter might not be so great.)
Chapter 2: Holding on to Your Faith
They parted but held each others gazes. "See you later," he said silkily touching her face. She closed her eyes for a brief moment to take in his warm touch then opened them again. "See you later," she said pulling away. She watched him climb into his car and drive off. A pang of saddness surged through her and she felt like she had just lost a part of her. Tears welled up inside of her and she fought back the sweet temptation to let them flow. 'How odd. Why do I feel this way, like he's always been a part of me and when we are apart it feels like a tearing at my soul?' she asked herself in thought. Her parents called her and said it was time to go. She hugged her friends and told them farewell then she got into her parents' vehicle and road off to their home.
On the way to their house she stared out the truck window. She was searching but didn't know what for. She felt a presence again. She shivered then looked forward. They made it home and her mother told her, "I love you, goodnight." "Night, Mom, goodnight," Rachel said back. She went in her room and closed her door. She dressed in her pajamas and took her borwn hair down from her half pony tail. As soon as her head hit her pillow she fell straight to sleep and dreamed: 'A dark person was walking in the night. His eyes shown brightly through the darkness. He stood before a large building. The land was unknown to her. The building's outline seemed like a castle. Lightning shook the sky and brightned up everything. The castle was dreary and old. It seemed almost sad, as if it were a living structure.' The dream was over and she finally drifted off to a deeper sleep were no dreams or sound could reach her mind.
She awoke to the sound of sizzling on a stove. Her senses noted that it was bacon from the smell. She smiled and hoped out of bed. A shower was in order so she did that first. After she was clean and fresh, Rachel sat amonst her mother, father, and younger brother at the table. There were pancakes and bacon, as she already known, and toast. Her father had made coffe and was pouring her a cup. "Thank you," she said as she added her milk and sugar to it. "This is all so beautiful. We rarely get anything like this any more," Rachel added. Derieck, her brother said, "Don't I know it," while stuffing a large amount of pancake into his mouth. "We have to go to a thing at the church tonight, Rachel," her mother told her. "Why?" she asked. "Your dad has agreed to do the sound for the special music and besides it will be fun," her mother said. "Ok," she said cheerfully. She always loved going to church no matter what day it was. It was her second home. The one place she knew she would always be welcome. It's was where her and her father were saved and Baptized together. That church held a speical place next to her heart.
At church Rachel's dad was setting up the amplifiers and microphones. She and her brother went down to the Fellowship Hall to wait for their friends. The first to show up was Rachel's best friend Sandy. More came in after her. Sandy and Rachel decided to walk out to the cemetary where one of her friends that had died was buried. She stared at he headstone for a good while. 'I miss you, Blake,' she thought hoping that it would reach him in Heaven. A chill ran up her spine just then and she felt as if eyes were watching her. "Come on, Sandy. Let's get back to the Fellowship Hall. It's already getting dark," Rachel said grabbing her friend's arm. Before they reached the doors Rachel felt a tapping on her shoulder. She turned and there he was. Christian was the picture of beauty, if that could be said about a guy. Rachel thought so anyway. He intertwined their fingers and they walked into The Fellowship Hall together. It was still a half an hour till the singing started so the youth decided to hang out down stairs for a while. They sat around and talked of the strangest thing, vampires. One of the guys Rachel had been kind of close to like a brother, Lance, said, "People have been talking about seeing things happen lately. Sounds kind of like vampires." "That is probably the most retarded thing you have ever said, Lance," Rachel said. Christian went still and his expression blank.
When everything was ready, they made their way to the sanctuary. Christian hesitated before the doors and Rachel asked, "What's the matter?" "Huh? Oh nothing let's go in," he said smiling. They sat down and listened to a small testimony someone had prepared, then the music started. They stood and clapped their hands. Some of the musice was traditional and some was contemorary. Either one Rachel was singing right along with it. Christian was amazed that she knew all the words to these songs. She noticed him looking at her and said, "I'm sorry I don't sing very well, I just love to sing to the Lord." He smiled and started singing himself. His voice was just as enchanting as his appearance and his personality. She prayed silently, 'Lord, I pray that you will watch over this interesting boy. Put your protective arms around him and hold on tight. He seems to enjoy your presence.' To her it looked as though, maybe, he didn't have this type of faith before and now is seeing the divinity in it all. Perhaps coming to faith is easier than a person would think.
At the end there was a prayer then everyone filed out of the holy building. Before they parted again, Christian kissed Rachel's cheek lightly and put something cold into her hand. After he drove away she opened her hand to reveal a silver ring with a deep blue stone in it. When she was home she took the ring and put it on her silver chain with her tiny silver cross. It was too big to wear on her finger considering how tiny everything about her was. She picked it up off her chest and looked into the blue abyss it held. When she fell asleep that night she dreamed of Christian. He had come into her room and sat by her bed to watch her sleep. She felt safe and secure. She was holding on to two different faiths. Faith in God and faith in that Christian would always be there for her.

Chapter 3: Secrets That Lie Within
Morning was fading into noon and Rachel still slept on. "Rachel get up!" her mom called. She rolled over on her side and opened an eye. "I am so sleepy," she said. Her mom gave her an 'I don't give a crap' look and said, "If I come back in here and you're not up..." She rolled out of bed and said, "I'm up, I'm up." She pushed herself up from the floor and got her things ready to take a shower. She yawned as she stepped into the shower. She let the water run over her skin for a few minutes before washing her hair and her body. She got out and put her clothes on. She looked at her cell phone and she saw where she had recieved a text message from her friend Terri.
I'll add more..

Coolness, its a good paced tension build up on things, the dicotomy of her faith in the light and the seduction of darkness that you know is coming. The emotional termoil that she's going to face is that much more hightened by seeing in the beginning how her life normally runs, the things she has come to know and believe, and take for granted maybe, things that will be shattered later on and which she'll long for the comfort of.
Gone for the forseeable future.

(I was hoping I wasn't adding too much about her life. Some stories get boring like that.)
The text read: 'Hey girl, there is a fair tonight. Want to come with me?' She text back and said, "Yeah girl, I would love to." She ate a bowl of coca puffs and waited for Terri to come and get her. When Terri got there it was about six o'clock. Rachel called out to her mom, "Bye, Mither, I love you." "Bye, Rachel, be careful," her mom said. "I will," she said shutting the screen door. She got in the front seat of Terri's car and they road off to the fair. "So how have things been girl?" Terri asked. "Interesting," Rachel said, "I met a guy." "Ooo! Do tell!" Terri squealed. Rachel put her finger in her ear to stop the ringing then said, "His name is Christian Brennan. He's really sweet. Plus he just started coming to my church." Terri was llistening intently. "He has dark red hair and brown eyes. He's is so beautiful," Rachel told her friend. Terri looked over at her like she was crazy. "What?" Rachel asked defensively. "Why do you call guys beautiful?" Terri asked. Rachel rolled her eyes and said, "I gues for the same reason you like unattractive guys. It's just what I do." Terri laughed and said, "Well I happen to think David is very attractive." Rachel crossed her eyes at her friend and said, "If you say so." They made it to the fair and walked about until they saw the ferris wheel. "I've never been on one of those," Rachel said mesmerized. Terri grabbed Rachel's hand and said, "Well let's get on it." They got in line and gave the man their tickets. As they were climbing in Rachel had a strange feeling. When they were in it started moving. "Why do you look so serious?" Terri asked. "Huh? I'm just thinking that's all," Rachel told her. "Do you ever stop thinking and just have fun?" Terri pestered her. Then the wheel started shaking and stopped in place. Rachel gripped the sides her seat and prayed, 'Dear God, save us. Don't let anything bad happen. Protect us.' She opened her eyes and looked around. People were freaking out down below them. Something bad was going to happen. The seat they were sitting in started to make a weird noise. Rachel looked over to the other side of Terri and saw the connection between the bars was bending. A screw had come loose some how. "Switch seats with me, Terri," Rachel said standng halfway up. "Are you crazy?" Terri asked in panic. "Just do it," she told her. Terri scooted over while Rachel made her way to the other side. She sat down and watched the bars move further apart. She closed her eyes and clentched her necklace in her hand. She felt it fall a small ways. Now they were leaning towards the ground. Terri was holding on to her side for dear life. Rachel had blacked out when it fell a bit more and she hit her head on one of the bars. She laid limp in the seat, sliding towards the opening. Terri tried to grab her but something wizzed by her head and when she could see again, Rachel wasn't there. The wheel started moving again and just in time before Terri's side started bending. "Oh my gosh! Where is Rachel?" she asked to her self aloud. No one had saw what happened.
He laid her her down on her bed and brushed back a stran of hair. Rachel stirred and tried to sit up. She fell back onto the softness behind her head. She opened her eyes slightly to see who was there, then they widened when she remebered what had happened. "Christian? It was you? You saved me from falling didn't you? But how?" she asked in haste. He smiled and sat beside her. "Shhh. It's ok. Just sleep," he told her. "What about Terri? Is she ok?" she asked more. "your friend is fine. She got down safely," he explained. She settled down and relaxed. She closed her eyes and swallowed her saliva. She began to drift off now. He continued to stroke her head till she was fully asleep.
When Rachel woke up she had a massive headache. "Ugh. What happened? Did I get hit by a train?" she asked. Her memories flooded her mind and she grabbed her phone to text Terri. When she got the text back that she was alright she cakmed down and went into her living room. She lifted an eyebrow to the wide eyes of her Mom, Dad, and brother. "What?" she asked. Her mom stood up and embraced her. She hugged her back. "I'm ok, mom," she said. "I know. I'm so glad," her mom said getting emotional. She let her mom hug her a little longer before she pulled away and said, "I'm going to go and take a shower now." While she was waiting for the water to get hot she stared at herself in the mirror. 'Did he really save me? How would that have been possible? Was it just a dream?' she stopped her thoughts when she felt the heat from the water rising up. She got in the tub and showered.

After her shower Terri had text and said she wanted to come over and talk. She replied, "Yes." When Terri arrived they road around town for a little while then went to the mall to get some icecream. "Rachel, you disappeared last night," Terri said finally. "I know. I don't know how though. I had a dream that I was in my bed after that and Christian was there with me, telling me everything was going to be ok," Rachel told her. "A dream?" Terri asked lifting her eyebrow. "I thought it was real, but it seems way too far fetched. Like something straight out of a book," Rachel said. "What if it wasn't a dream?" Terri asked. "I don't know. I'm not really sure how to explain that," she replied. Terri was silent for a minute deep in thought. Rachel could see destress on her face. "What is it, Terri?" she asked. Terri lifted her eyes to Rachels and said, "What if you're beautiful guy has a dark secret?" Rachel smiled and asked, "Like what?" "I don't know, Rachel. Just be careful, that's all," Terri said finishing her waffle cone. "Anyways, why don't you stay the night with me tonight?" Terri asked with a more cheery disposition. Rachel smiled and said, "Sure."

Chapter 4: Realizations and Deniles
Rachel got her things together when they arrived at her house then they drove back to Terri's house. They got out of the car and went up the steps to Terri's house. Rachel patted the cat's head that was rubbing up against her legs then set her things down in Terri's room. "Want something to eat?" Terri asked. "Yeah sure. Thanks," Rachel said sitting down on Terri's bed. terri went in the kitchen to make some mac and cheese and chicken strips. Rachel layed back on the bed and looked around the room. She admired Terri for her great ability for creativity. The colors and designs were beautiful. She made her own picture frames and jewlery. 'I wish I had a nack for making neat things,' she thought. After a few minutes she walked in the living room to talk to Terri over the counter. "It's almost ready," Terri said. "Alright," she replied. "So, I have something to tell you," Terri said hesitantly. Rachel couldn't get her to look up to see if something was wrong or not. "Please don't judge me, Rachel," she added. "Of coarse I won't," Rachel said defensively. Terri lifteed her eyes and rachel knew something was eating at her. "What is it, Terri?" she asked impatiently. "I know this will sound crazy and absurd but...I think this guy you've been talking to is a...vampire," she said finally. Rachel looked at Terri as though she were crazy. "Now hold on, I see how you are looking at me. Just let me explain," she said. "Please do," Rachel said. "The things you have told me leave suspision and plus there was last night," she started, "how was it possible that you just disappeared and me not see how when I was sitting right next to you. Then you say he was sitting next to you after that on your bed." "That was a dream, Terri," Rachel cut in. "But what if it wasn't? What if...what if he is a vampire and you not even realize it," Terri asked her. "Then there is more concreat evidence. David exposed himself as a vampire to me before he broke up with me. He showed me his teeth and everything, Rachel. It's real," she said in haste. Rachel shook her head and said, "Terri, people go and get that done to their teeth in Dentists' offices. Vampires are not real. People just want to be like the characters they read about in books and go get that procedure done. Some people take it to the extreme and go kill people. I saw shows about it, Terri," Rachel told her friend calmly. "Rachel, it's real and you need to realize this before it's too late," Terri said. Rachel sighed and turned away from Terri.

Behind the counter Terri shook her head and said, "I'm not going to fight with you on this, Rachel, but you should really consider the possibility." Rachel looked back at her and said, "You sound like you've lost all reasoning, Terri. Vampires? Are you smoking crack? For real, Terri, if David has got you on that stuff we can get you help." Terri rolled her eyes and smiled. "I'm not on crack, Rachel. He showed me his powers. I can tell it's real. You don't have to believe but it's the truth." "See, now you sound like me when I talk to people about Jesus. Terri, you have been acting very strange lately. Emotional, quite, and now your speaking crazy! What is up with you?" Rachel asked hysterically. "I did 'it' with him, Rachel," Terri said bluntly. Rachel's jaw dropped and she stared at Terri for a good while before saying, "Are you serious?" "Yes. It's really not that bad. He broke my heart when he broke up with me. It has been an emotional toll but as far as that goes, it's not as horrible as you think it is," Terri told her. Half way through what Terri was saying Rachel stopped listening and her heart sank. 'We always had the same views on marriage before that. I don't understand. I hope she'll be alright through this time. I realize it must be hard to deal with,' Rachel thought to herself. Her eyes misted up and she stood to hug Terri. "What's that for?" Terri asked. Rachel replied, "I love you and I'll always be here for you."

Chapter 5: Not What You Think
Terri brought Rachel home the next day. "See ya girl," she called out from her car. Rachel smiled and waved from the front porch. Terri left and Rachel walked into her house. Her mom was sitting on the couch watching tv. "Hey. How did things go?" her mom asked. "Well, Mither, I think Terri has lost her mind," Rachel replied. "What's new?" her mom said with a chuckle. Rachel rolled her eyes and said, "No really, she has lost it. She thinks David and Christian are vampires." Her mom grinned and said, "Alrighty then." "My thoughts exactly," Rachel said as she went to her room.

Rachel laid down in her bed and watched her ceiling. Thoughts raced in and clouded her mind, draining her energy. It wasn't long before they reached Christian. 'Who is he really? Terri couldn't be right, could she?' She blocked those thoughts and closed her eyes. She began to dream: 'The castle was as bleak as it was before. The man stood before it yet again. This time though, he turned away from it. His face was down and shrowded with the blanket of night. He walked away from the towering castle and went through the gate. The road was there now. a fork in it seemed to hinder his movement as though he was pondering which one would be best. Leaves fell about him as he took the one to the right. He faded with her dream.' Then she was captive by her deeper sleep. She welcomed it as she was deadened by the slumber.
Meanwhile...
Sheltered by the darkness that filled every crack and corner in the old house, Christian walked from room to room. It was a lonely house. Falling apart and utterly unloved. Him and this house were of kindred spirits, if that could be said about a house. The rooms were bare and cold. Memories flooded his mind. His old home was filled with warmth and love until the dark curse came apon them in the night. His parents were first then it was him. Their Ireland castle was dark and desolate after that. He knew there was something missing even before then in his life but now it was killing him. His destiny was laid out before him one night. He went to a fortune teller and learned that the America's held the greatest treasure that was his. When he addressed his parents that he he would be leaving, his parents strongly advised him to stay. They told him nothing good would come of this. They had known all along what his destiny was. That angered him and he lashed out and left in a flury. He never looked back. He came back from the painful heartache and set his alarm on his cell phone for six o'clock. Darkness would set in at about that time. Then he would be able to see her. He laid down amongst the quilts he aired out the night before. It was soft and comforting, just like her.

When Rachel finally woke up she looked at the superman clock by her bed and it read: five nineteen. She hopped out of bed and went into the living room. She rubbed her eyes and saw the food on the table. She perked up and was anxious to eat. "Mom. Dad....where are ya'll?" she called out. She went in their bed room and didn't find them. "Hmm. Oh right. Tennis practice," she said aloud to herself. She turned on the tv to the music channel and sat down at the table. She fixed her plate and began eating while listening to 'Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls'. She had just took a bite of her mashed potatoe dipped roats beef when she heard a car drive up. She turned in her seat to see if it was someone but it was too far away. Then she heard a knock on the door. Her heart raced with concern and paranoyia. She walked slowly to the door and saw Christian on the other side of the screen. She smiled and let him in. "It's good to see you. How did you know where I lived?" she asked. "I got directions from one of the girls at church. I didn't think about it before but I don't have your cell phone number," he told her. They exchanged numbers and she offered for him to eat with her. "I already ate. Thanks though," he said sitting at the table with her while she ate. "So where do you live?" she asked before shoveling yet another piece of roast beef into her mouth. "About a mile from the church," he said then added, "you can put away some food huh? I don't see how concidering how tiny you are." Her eyes leveled with his and her disposision became dreary. She swallowed her food and said, "I'm sensitive about my weight. I can't gain no matter how much I eat. I enjoy food 'very' much." He nodded and said, "I'm sorry if I offended you." "It's fine. I just don't like to talk about it. People use to call me anorexic. It really bothered me so I eat everything I can find. Not just for gaining but because I just can't go without it. I love it too much," she explained. "People can be so cruel," he said with sad eyes. "Yeah, but you learn to live with it and except them for who they are. It took me a while to realize this. I came to know Jesus our savior and now I understand more than what I did. Not everything but enough to ease my mind about this messed up world," she told him. He studied her with his eyes. He could tell she was sincer and that made him like her all the more. She talked to him about all the great things a man/woman should posess: honor, loyalty, trustworthyness, bravery and courage, compassion for others and heart of love. He smiled over her great enthusiasm about these things. Her passion and innocence was very intriguing to him. He added some of his thoughts and agreed with what she said. Another song had come on and silenced them. It was 'Innocence by Avril Lavigne'. Rachel had heard it and fell in love with it. Right now it mimicked the way she felt at this very moment, content.
